Effects Of Drugs On Your Body And Brain

Drugs have been around for a very long time.  The use of drugs is not pegged to modern society only.  Hallucinogenic mushrooms are among the earliest known drugs in human history.  The mushrooms grew naturally and were therefore one of the most common hallucinogens. Do not think that drugs are good for you just because your ancestors used them at one point. It is important to note that drugs were in such high usage then because no scientific studies in relation to the use of drugs had been conducted. In the past, the only known drugs were those that grew naturally, and hence the reason for the different reactions in people who used drugs then and those who use them now. Click here for more info.

With the development of science and technology came advancements in many fields an it is saddening that one of the main benefactors of this development is the drug industry.  A lot of drugs today are engineered in laboratories and then sold to the ignorant population. In the drug manufacturing laboratories, a lot of dangerous chemicals are combined to come up with final drug, thereby making modern day drugs very potent. Most of these chemicals affect the takers’ power of reasoning and hence the reason why most of them keep on going for more even when they know they are wrong for them.  Discussed in this website are effects of some of the most commonly abused drugs in modern society.

Firstly, let’s take a look at cannabis. Another name for this drug is marijuana and it is commonly known as weed in the streets.  In some states, you will find that marijuana is legal but this is only the case because of recent studies that have shown that marijuana can be of help in the medical industry.More research on cannabis shows that just like alcohol, the drug numbs a person’s central nervous system and hence the reason why most marijuana users are unable to react fast to certain situations. The long-term effects of cannabis are paranoia and schizophrenia, especially if you start using the drug at an early age.

Cocaine is another drug we will be looking at.  Unlike cannabis and alcohol, cocaine is a stimulant that gives one a buzz for a few minutes. After the buzz, you will experience a crash and this is when you will crave more of the drug here hence the reason why this drug is one of the most addicting.  Cocaine fastens one’s heart rate and this can cause breathing problems, a heart attack or a stroke.  The after effects of cocaine are hallucinations, psychosis, sleep deprivation, loss of appetite and hence loss of weight and collapse of the wall dividing the nasal chamber because the snorting of cocaine causes nose sores.
